RE: Forums vs. Blogs...

I like blogs because they usually have photos and I like to see what it's like where people are traveling. I started my own RV adventure photo blog when we went full time and have really enjoyed doing it and meeting via internet people who find it interesting. I think it's the photos that bring people back... I'm still working on the art of "writing". Ha! Check us out. mark and bobbie.

RE: interested on a 5th wheel... not sure.. help

I wonder how many rv buyers start out with a T. T. and end up getting a fiver down the road? T.T. could be a mistake for most... we learned the hard way. mark

RE: Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!

Our solution to doubled fuel prices is to drive half as much. You still get where you are going, but it takes twice as long. What's the hurry anyway.

powering microwave from honda 2000 gen. Bad Idea???

We boondock about half the time and use our honda 2000 generator for evening power and topping off the batteries. We noticed that when we start the Microwave, the generator bogs way down and slowly revs to high rpms. During this bogged down time the Micro groans and the light dims a couple times then it surges to life. Are we going to "surge" it to death by doing this??? thanks mark and bobbie

RE: Gas Price Complaints?

Switch to soy milk, it's cheaper and better tasting too.

New fulltimers enjoying the road, the sun, and desert views!

We quit our jobs, sold the house and hit the road in our Excel Fifth wheel in November. While it is snowing and blowing there, we are sitting outside in the beautiful lush desert of Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. We have everything we need in our new "hotel suite on wheels" and can't wait to slowly move north and explore as it warms into our comfort zone temperatures. What are you waiting for, get out here and join us!
Lov'in this rv life, mark and bobbie.

RE: RV.Net Blogs

I just checked out your rvnet blog and think it is a great reference site. The article and picture stye make it like reading a magazine. The best part (over most blogs) is that it is authored by many knowledgeable people as opposed to one. I found the boondocking article helpful in our quest to do more of that style of camping (to save money). mark.

RE: How long can I stand this???

Well we've been there... waiting for our turn and time seems to stand still, especially when cold and snowy outside (sigh). But right now it is our turn... 65 degrees and sunny here in Organ Pipe Cactus Nat. Mon. in south Arizona! Not to rub it in, but to give you something to look forward to cause, we been there too. mark

RE: Exercise on the road

A great question. We are active people and wondered about getting enough exercise on the road, especially since my wife is a former personal trainer and fitness instructor.
If the weather is good and you are in a campground (national park, state park, forest service, etc.) it's easy. Walking, hiking, biking, running, etc. If you are in an RV park without exercise room facilities it's usually laps in the pool unless you like to round and round the park. Going outside the RV park you might have to deal with traffic and sometimes questionable neighborhoods and finding a restroom (on those long walks/runs). We joined a local athletic club once, but it was pricey and a little unfriendly.
We found that walking wasn't enough to keep the weight off in this lifestyle so when we can't go on long hikes or bike rides, we try for long walks with hand weights now. Keeps the upper body toned, burns more calories, and is uncomplicated. If the weather is bad we have a small step for doing step ups in the fifth wheel or out under the awning. Push ups and set ups during tv time a couple times or more rounds out our RV program. The hand weights REALLY increases the work out level. My wife has worked up to 5 lbs in each hand and I'm up to 7 lbs each hand. It took a long time to work up to those weights tho. start with 2 lbs. and pump your arms while walking briskly and you will see results in a month. good luck, mark and bobbie.

RE: New to RV World...What TT to Buy?

We had an Arctic Fox 26' for 10 years before going fulltime and it was a solid unit. When we were ready to get rid of it for a fifth wheel, it had held it's book value more than most. The are well insulated too. mark.

Ok, enough cold and wind. Is this winter's weather in the snowbird areas of Arizona worse than normal?

RE: My first RV mistake

First time out parked on a sloping campsite that overlooked a nice canyon in Colorado National Monument. Cranked up and off the ball and watched the trailer accelerate toward the canyon. Fortunately I had not unhooked the trailer brake wire yet and after 3 feet it activated and locked the trailer brakes, but not equally because the trailer ended up sideways in the site. ha, mark
